Michael O’Connor

Michael O’Connor is National Secretary of the Timber, Furnishing & Textiles Union (TFTU) and a member of the Australian Council of Trade Unions Executive. He has represented workers across Australia’s forestry, timber, furnishing, pulp and paper, and manufacturing industries for many years, with a strong focus on jobs, workplace conditions and the long-term future of regional industries and communities. Michael has been closely involved in national discussions about forestry and manufacturing policy, industry investment and workforce transitions. In 2026, he became National Secretary of the newly established TFTU, which represents workers across timber, wood products, furnishing, textiles and associated manufacturing industries.
