2021 National Conference

The theme of the conference Your Forests, Our Future highlights that Australia’s forests are for the benefit of everyone. Forests deliver many social, cultural, financial and environmental benefits, but their continued ability to provide these benefits depends on effective management and conservation. Through improved collaboration, sharing information, knowledge and skills and with the innovative use of technology and engagement of communities, forest scientists, managers, owners and other stakeholders will be better equipped to manage all types of forests across all tenures, including urban and farm forests.

Building on the successes and lessons of recent IFA and AFG national conferences, the program will facilitate both structured and informal dialogue and networking, and will incorporate a day of field sessions to explore the conference themes.

We encourage forest scientists, forestry professionals and forest growers to place this date in their diary.

The IFA/AFG is working towards hosting a dynamic face to face conference experience, however we will also monitor the COVID situation throughout Australia and, if required will deliver an engaging virtual conference experience.

Preliminary program – NOW AVAILABLE

The Institute of Foresters of Australia and Australian Forest Growers (IFA/AFG) is delighted to release the preliminary program for the 2021 IFA/AFG National Conference. As part of the call for abstracts process which began in February, the IFA/AFG received over 130 abstracts and expressions of interest from field foresters, researchers, students, farmers, communication and technology experts. The calibre of abstracts was exceptional, which has translated into a high quality, exciting and stimulating conference program.
